A Message from the Principal
Dear Charger Families,
Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year at Inverness Middle School! We are here to empower our students and lead them through academics and community to help grow skills and build dreams. We look forward to this year and being a part of your child's story as they build their future here at Inverness Middle School. The staff at Inverness Middle School are committed to helping your child learn and succeed. This is a true family of learners and as our students are learning and growing, so are we. Working together and sharing our knowledge and understanding will help us all become better.
Of course, this means that our students will be expected to take responsibility for their effort, interest, and focus. We expect our school to be a safe place to find and grow skills and acquire greater understanding. We will support your child by maintaining an environment that is fair, safe, and focused so that they will have the opportunity to take control of their own dreams and build their own futures.
We believe if you set your mind to something you can do it, and we are here to show our students how. At the same time, their voice matters, and we want them to know that there is a place for them here.
Best Wishes,
Rob Hermann
Principal
Inverness Middle School is proud that all 76 teachers and administrators who work with our students are certified by the State of Florida or other governing board. We appreciate the following teachers who have volunteered to teach a subject outside of their primary certification and are currently taking classes to obtain certification in the area they are teaching out-of-field.
Teacher and Course/Class:
Brianna Barten - ESE and Science
Apryl White - ESE
Scott Miller - ESE
Janette Coker - Science
Amanda Sellers - ESE and Math
Jennifer Hetland - School Counselor
Katherine Godman - ELA
Sarah Cunningham - Science
Nancy Weaver - Technology
Each of these teachers has both experience and coursework in the area they are teaching or providing services for. They are excellent teachers and we appreciate the extra effort they are putting forth on behalf of our students.

From the PBIS Coach’s Corner
As the new school year starts we see lots of new smiling faces not only in students but in staff! This will be the BEST year yet at IMS!! Expectations, Code of Conduct, guidelines and consequences are the usual opening procedures each year but something different was added by our admin team that was refreshing. Something very simple that reminds me of that early Michael Jackson song “A,B,C”. The letters used were “E,F,G”. Each letter stands as a reminder of how to live our daily lives with dignity and respect not only for others but ourselves. The message put forth was also very simple – live by these three letters and there will not be a need for rules – how very profound!!! The letters and what they stand for are as follows with a definition from Webster’s:
“E” – Empathy – “The understanding and sharing of the emotions and experiences of another person”
“F” – Forgiveness – “To stop feeling angry at or hurt by”
“G” – Gratitude – “A feeling of appreciation or thanks”
Walking in someone else’s shoes (empathy) for a day to understand what that person is experiencing (empathy) – hummmmm this might promote _____________________
Saying “I’m sorry” and then letting it go (forgiveness) – hummm this might promote _______________
Feeling thankful and saying “thank you” (gratitude) – hummm this might promote______________________
Now you fill in the blanks with what you think this promotes….Built in guidelines (rules)? Words that we all can live by at any age? Lifelong lesson? Worldwide lesson?
“Simple as e, f, g…
Easy as 1, 2, 3
Simple as do re me
That’s how easy it can be”
