Inverness Middle School Newsletter................February 2019

A Message from the Principal:

Optimism is a hope and confidence about success in the future. Despite circumstances some people have a positive view of the situation. I love those people and strive to be like them.

I am 50 years old and I am a work in progress. I have known many people over the course of my life. I have listened and watched people. I have heard many trials and tribulations of courageous people’s lives. I have always been amazed at meeting people who were dealt troubles, disease, loss of life, abuse, lack of resources, major changes in the direction of their lives… and yet they are optimistic. When I hear or understand their situation and see their smiles and positive looks on the future, they inspire me. They choose to forgive and move forward.

I am not perfect, but I strive to be better. I am amazed how I have a total lack of optimism with some things like when I am having a “bad day” because I have lost something and get frustrated, but then later find it. I am often reminded to worry less and trust that things will work out for the best.

I consciously want to be more optimistic, so I googled how. I am so hip. Here are some of Google's suggestions, see if they make any sense to you.

  • Remind yourself that there is always a silver lining.
  • Do not get hung up on the past.
  • Be thankful for the things you have.
  • Surround yourself with positive people.
  • Give yourself positive affirmations (be aware of what you are putting in your mind).
  • Laugh out loud.
  • Remember everyone’s life has ups and downs.

Join with me and let us practice being optimistic in February.
